It is great in this day and age to be able to have so many choices when it comes to running your business. Tools and software that were only

available to powerful companies just a few years ago are now available to anyone who wants them. The people who have gained the most from this are people who

run small businesses. They are able to make their businesses run more efficiently just like the big boys all while staying under their own personal budget.

If you own a childcare business then you have probably researched the options that are available to you when it comes to running your business. You probably

already know that to help you run your business better you are going to need proper childcare management software. Now the only problem is which one do you

choose? But that is not your only problem however. You also need to know if you want the software to be hosted online or as a desktop application.

What is the difference between a desktop hosted app and an online version?

Some people just see an app as being an app. They realize what a web site is and how it works in the general sense but they do not understand the true

difference between that and a client on your desktop. There are advantages and disadvantage to both of them and it is up to you to decide which type your

childcare business is going to need.

If you choose childcare management software that is hosted on the desktop then that means you has to install it on the computer of your choosing. The

advantage of this is that the software is much faster than the online version. Because it is hosted on your desktop there is no lag and the speed is dictated

by the strength of your computer and not how far away the server is.

The disadvantage is that you are only able to access the data that is on the software from that computer alone. You will have to store the data in a backup

device such as an external hard drive to be able to move it someplace else.

If you choose a version that is online then that means you will be able to access it from anywhere. You are not confined to just the computer that you are on

like the desktop version. If you have a smart phone you could even access it from that device as well. Also the data is stored on a remote computer which

means if anything happens then there is an automatic back up created. As we stated before, the disadvantage of this way means there might be some lag time

due to slow internet connections or a down server.

So as you can see, when you are in the market for childcare management software there are several ways that you can go. If you are a person that is always

mobile except for when you are in the office then you might want to think about the online version. If you are a person who runs their childcare business

from the home and rarely leaves, then a desktop version might be the one for you.
